Humane Investigations at HSCC
Each year, our Humane Investigator responds to as many as 100-150 reports of suspected cruel and inhumane treatment of animals in Chittenden & Grand Isle Counties and beyond. Each time we respond to such a call we use the opportunity, when appropriate, to educate and provide information and supplies in order to help promote responsible pet care. When necessary, we will involve the proper authorities to remove an animal from a dangerous or unsafe situation.
- If you suspect or witness the inhumane treatment of an animal, please file a report at www.ReportAnimalCruelty.com. Reports from Chittenden & Grand Isle Counties will be forwarded to HSCC.
- If you don’t have computer access, you can call HSCC’s Humane Investigator directly at (802) 862-0135 x18.
- Please remember - if you believe the situation to be an emergency, immediately contact your local Animal Control Officer or Police Department. HSCC’s Humane Investigator is not in the office daily and is often unable to respond immediately.
