About our Scooter Fund
Scooter was a beagle mix who was found on the side
of the road, starving, sore-infested, and missing a paw. Scooter was treated for an ear infection and
a hernia and was fitted with a customized leather artificial paw. The Humane Society of Chittenden County then
found Scooter a loving home. In honor of
Scooter, this fund was established in 1994.
Donations to the Scooter Fund are used to pay for veterinary costs for animals with special needs waiting for adoption. This fund provides a second chance for those animals too sick or injured to be adopted.
About our Lucinda Fund
Lucinda is a boxer who came into the care of HSCC as a baby through a humane investigation case. Under 3 lbs, infested with fleas and very close to death, Lucinda was given a blood transfusion, fed high nutrient food with a syringe, kept warm with a heating pad and nursed back to health. Adopted by our Humane Investigator who fostered her, Lucinda has become a happy and healthy dog, and a mascot of HSCC.
To honor her struggle and to acknowledge the importance of humane investigations, the Lucinda Fund was created. Donations to the Lucinda Fund go to help pay for the costs of humane investigation, and the animals affected by them.
