The Scooter Fund

Scooter was a beagle mix who was found on the side of the road starving, sore-infested, and missing a paw. Scooter was treated for an ear infection and a hernia and was fitted with a customized leather artificial paw. The Humane Society then found Scooter a loving home. In honor of Scooter, this fund was established in 1994. Money contributed to the Scooter fund is restricted to pay veterinary costs for animals with special needs awaiting adoption. This fund provides a second life-saving chance for those animals too sick or injured to be adopted.

Scooter
Scooter and his new mom!

Just recently, a 1 1/2 year old male Husky-Beagle mix named Hero came to our shelter when he was hit by a car and suffered a compound fracture. His owners couldn't afford to pay for the surgery needed to save his life. The veterinarian called HSCC to see if we could help. Thanks to funds donated to the Scooter Fund, Hero's leg has been put back together with pins and plates. Thanks to this fund, there was money available to fix him up as good as new.

Hero is now recovering in one of HSCC's foster homes and, when his leg has healed, he'll be at the shelter, ready to choose a new family to spend the rest of his life with.

Hero feels like a very lucky dog!

Thanks to the caring people who contributed to the Scooter Fund, Hero and others like him can have a new lease on life!

Please thoughtfully consider a generous donation to this important program. You could literally make the difference in an unfortunate animal's life.
