Get Involved

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."  -Margaret Mead

Individuals and communities depend on each other for survival. Volunteering - or lending a hand in one of many different ways - is ultimately about reaching out beyond ourselves and having an impact on another’s wellbeing. What better way is there to connect with your community than to give a little back?

Giving of our time, energies, efforts, and resources, grants us access to new perspectives, to the opportunity to enrich our communities, and to the chance to enrich our own lives as well.

If you have a passion for the welfare of animals, at the Humane Society of Chittenden County, we're happy to help you express that passion in any number of ways. You can volunteer your time, donate funds or supplies, share your expertise, or combine all three. You can attend or participate in one of our many events, spread the word by encouraging friends and family to choose adoption when they're considering a new pet, or even come our way to find a new best friend yourself!

As we receive no local, state, or federal funding, HSCC depends on the generosity of people like you to carry out our mission - your donations of time, supplies, and funds are quite literally, the means by which we are able to provide services to the animals and people in our community.

Please take a moment to learn about ways you can get involved in providing life-giving care, love, and hope to hundreds of homeless and abandoned animals by clicking on one of the page links to the right.

Save Animal's Lives in Perpetuity - Make a Planned Gift

Including the Humane Society of Chittenden County in your estate plan demonstrates enduring commitment to the well-being of animals and helps to provide the essential long-term financial support needed to sustain HSCC programs in perpetuity. There are a variety of charitable gift opportunities which may help reduce gift and estate taxes, or have other tax benefits. We encourage you to discuss these options with us and with your financial and legal advisors. Please phone Nancy Cathcart, President & CEO, (802) 862-0135 ext. 12 with your questions and thoughts.
