Canine Companions Available for Adoption

We try to keep our animal pages as current as possible, however, animals are adopted on a daily basis so availability changes frequently.  If you see an animal you are interested in, or want to check on other available animals, please call us or come in during our Adoption Center Hours!

Have a dog?  Adopting a dog?  Then you may be interested in dog training classes.  HSCC offers several for the various stages of your dog's life and training level.  Click here to find out about our dog class offerings.

Bailey

2 Year Old Hound Mix

Neutered Male

SIZE/WEIGHT:  Medium/29 lbs.
REASON HERE:  My owners were not home enough for me
KIDS: 10+
DOGS: Some (better with calm, mellow ones)
CATS:  NO
ENERGY LEVEL: Medium/High

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:  Separation anxiety; destructive chewing when left alone; cannot be crated, left in yards alone, or especially tied out on a run.  Someone with hound experience is preferred.

SUMMARY:
A very sweet hound who doesn't like to be left alone.  Needs someone who is around most of the time and will provide the exercise and attention he needs.  Good with dogs and people and will make a loyal constant companion!

Calvin

~5 Year Old Welsh Corgi

Neutered Male

SIZE/WEIGHT:  Small/24 lbs.
REASON HERE:  I didn't get along with the other dog in the home.
KIDS: 13+ (some handling sensitivity)
DOGS: Some
CATS:  NO
ENERGY LEVEL: Med/High

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:  Neutered 6/23.  Leash walks only until 7/3

SUMMARY:
This sweet boy came to us because he didn't get along with a dog in his previous home.  He would do well in an active home with teenagers.  Calvin loves being around people and would prefer to spend most of his day with them rather than spend a lot of time home alone.  He would do great in a semi-active home with older children.

Peaches

~5 Year Old Shepherd Mix

Spayed Female

SIZE/WEIGHT:  Large/65 lbs.
REASON HERE:  I was a stray
KIDS: 13+ (unknown history with children; guards some items)
DOGS: NO
CATS:  NO
ENERGY LEVEL: Medium

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:  Doesn't get alone with some dogs.  Doesn't like being left alone.  Guards some items.  Adopter will receive a free behavior consul prior to adoption.

SUMMARY:
Peaches is a very sweet, affectionate girl.  She loves being with people, but doesn't do well with some dogs and has an unknown history with cats.  She does guard some of her treats and doesn't like being left alone.  She would do well in a semi-active home with teenagers.  She will surely make a nice addition to the right home who is willing to devote time to her.

Ruthie
1.5 Year Old Hound Mix
Spayed Female

SIZE/WEIGHT:  Large/48 lbs.
REASON HERE:  I was a stray
KIDS: 13+
DOGS: Some
CATS:  Unknown (probably not)
ENERGY LEVEL: High

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:  Barking; stressed when left alone; needs work on general manners.  Adopters will receive a free behavior consult on separation anxiety.

SUMMARY:

A vivacious and people-oriented dog who will make a great companion for some one who can give her lots of attention and exercise!

Thank you for caring!

Wish you could take them all home, but can't?  You can still provide our canine residents with all of the comforts of home while they are staying at HSCC by sponsoring their care through a Guardian Angelship.  Click here to become a Guardian Angel.

You can also see canine companions available for adoption on our Pet List at Petfinder.org.
